Ijaw Impact Assembly is now a registered NGO!

Image
Ijaw Impact Assembly started as a passion to impact change, especially in the Ijaw community areas. As someone in the diaspora, I didnt want to give the impression I was swooping in to save the day. Besides, i already was involved in established and reputed Ijaw nonprofit organizations in the diaspora. I wanted to work directly with home based individuals in the communities to impact change. Likeminded individuals were choraled, and this vision was birthed. To empower the Ijaw youths, a traditional dance competition was hosted, with first, second and third place winners voted on through social media. The response was great, and garnered some local radio airtime, and a social media ripple effect.  In the official registration process, the name morphed into Ijaw Humanitarian Impact Assembly. With the official registration of this organization as a Non Governmental Organization (NGO), here is an official introduction of its trustees President - Prof Kenneth Akponwei Chief Oper...

Toru-Angiama Community Library - Delta State

Image
There is no way a community can develop without education and information, and our youth are the future of the community. The world is becoming more and more complex. The simple ways of life are no longer sufficient to sustain. Our youth in the village need to be educated and informed, and hopefully use that knowledge to help develop and sustain the community. With that in mind, having a library in the community was became a vision. A place where imagination can soar, and the limitless possibility of the outside world can be experienced. Couple that with Wifi, Computer access and online book access as well as physical books (as well as prayers), and you have a community that is potentially positioned to empower its future. I want to thank the Izon Ebi Association (IEA) of Washington DC for sponsoring this project of having a library in Toru-Angiama Community, in Patani Local Govt Area, of Delta State in Nigeria. I also would like to thank the various members of the community who ...
