Toru-Angiama Community Library - Delta State
There is no way a community can develop without education and information, and our youth are the future of the community. The world is becoming more and more complex. The simple ways of life are no longer sufficient to sustain. Our youth in the village need to be educated and informed, and hopefully use that knowledge to help develop and sustain the community.
With that in mind, having a library in the community was became a vision. A place where imagination can soar, and the limitless possibility of the outside world can be experienced. Couple that with Wifi, Computer access and online book access as well as physical books (as well as prayers), and you have a community that is potentially positioned to empower its future.
I want to thank the Izon Ebi Association (IEA) of Washington DC for sponsoring this project of having a library in Toru-Angiama Community, in Patani Local Govt Area, of Delta State in Nigeria. I also would like to thank the various members of the community who were involved in running things. John Okpeke and Bripin Reuben, thank you for enduring my instructions. Thank you to everyone who donated additional funds, and gave moral support. And thank you to the community for the funding given. The baseline has been set up - now we need to furnish the library with the resources to garner knowledge so the community, both young and old can utilize this knowledge.
